The Lodge
Teenage Aiden and his sister Mia spend the Christmas holidays in a remote family lodge together with Grace, their father’s new girlfriend. The children make her responsible for their mother’s fate and have nothing but contempt for the young woman, who in turn suffers from her own traumatic past. When their father has to return to town and leaves the three of them alone in the lodge, creepy occurrences seem to become more and more frequent and open wounds (of the soul) are inflamed, especially once a snowstorm cuts them off from the rest of the world. The Lodge is a family constellation wrapped in a psycho horror drama, captured in claustrophobic images somewhere between deep black and snow-white, directed as intelligently as remorselessly by Veronika Franz and Severn Fiala.
