Indie horror wunderkind Larry Fessenden has been in over one hundred films, and as a producer has made a directing career possible for many, from Ti West to Jim Mickle. Every few years he makes a film of his own and shows the world how to be as autonomous as possible and work with the tightest of budgets. Depraved throws the central myth of Frankenstein’s monster into the present and digs itself deep into the profoundly humanist novel by Mary Shelley with feeling and intelligence. The “monster” is called Adam and was sewn together by a heavily traumatized war veteran, yet soon the pharma industry comes knocking, looking to make a profit from the successful (?) experiment – with dramatic consequences.
