Rabid

Rose works in fashion and is thus surrounded by perfect facades. Her own is horribly disfigured in an accident. An experimental stem cell therapy is supposed to give her her face back, but it does much more than that. Her new, surreal beauty helps Rose on in her carreer at a breakneck speed, but underneath the surface a grisly desire begins to bubble up and mutations start to dance. The twin sisters Soska turn David Cronenberg’s philosophically underlined horror classic into a juicy and down-to-earth B-movie with bright and wonderful effects, the mentality of a steam hammer, and a simple and clear story. Rabid is less of a remake of the original, than it is a love letter to the first wave of body horror cinema.
