In an alternative version of 1995 there is a teenage wasteland in its actual sense: all grown-ups fell victim to a virus in the small town of Potter’s Bluff, leaving the surviving teenagers to form gangs and fight each other. When a member of the poorer Eastsiders is taken prisoner by the tyrannical Westsiders, two punks take it upon themselves to crush the old order once and for all. The feature film debut by the Canadian director Jovanka Vuckovic is a mangy, highly contemporary explosion of a film carried by a DIY punk ethos and a fitting soundtrack, formulated as a post-apocalyptic war of worlds, values, and world views.

In the past two decades, she has worked as a visual effects artist, cemented a reputation as a genre film authority, and was twice named one of the most important women in the history of the horror. She directed part of XX (2017, /slash ½ 2017) the first ever all-female horror anthology. She is set up to direct the thriller All My Heroes Are Dead from her own script next.
