Armed with a hammer, the young Matvei stands ready in the apartment of the corrupt cop Andrei: he however has been going hard for far too many years (including a vast amount of fights) not to see straight through the young boy’s murderous plan, and after a short and intense fight, he handcuffs him in his bathroom. This is the starting point of Kirill Sokolov’s rapid and ultra-brutal comedy. Why Don’t You Just Die! is filled to the brim with slap and splatstick, obviously influenced by Tarantino, Leone, and so many other stylists of violence. Yet next to all that hyper-fun, it is also blessed with some juicy side blows against Russian society. One of the wildest film surprises this year. This is a must-see!

On 21.09 in attendance of Kirill Sokolov.
