A metaphoric example of the Jungian concept of individuation is combined with the lowbrow style of animation of Heavy Metal (the magazine, not the genre of music!) in Crisis Jung: told in ten short chapters, and originally released as a web series, the hero’s journey of the protagonist Jung leads him on a trip of excessive sex and gore: the antagonist Petit Jesus puts increasingly grotesque adversaries in his path that Jung must rip apart, beat up, knock, cut and saw in half, before (hopefully) retrieving the head of his decapitated Maria. A driving, pumping electro soundtrack completes this grandiosely animated and all-round astounding trip: there is no better way to bring analytic psychology onto the silver screen.

Baptiste Gaubert, Jérémie Hoarau
(*1980 in Nimes, France), was raised in an artisan family. Like many kids, he drew a lot. In 2003 he graduated from the ESAD School of Art in Strasbourg and began working on his first published comic series with Benoit Boucher: The Zblucops. He created the Tequila series with Jerry Frissen for the Lucha Libre comic anthology, made his own comic book Goligo, and co-directed animated parts for the feature film Lou by Julien Neel. Crisis Jung is his first animated series.
